Aktas Holding CEO - Sami Erol’s Significant Messages on Institutionalization in Family-businesses

Aktas Holding, which is one of the largest companies in the world in the production of air suspension systems, and has been making direct exports to more than 100 countries, continues to mention its name successfully in the organizations that are arranged by various platforms operating in our country and world scale.

 

Sami Erol, Chairman of the Executive Board and Board Member – Sami Erol and Deputy Chairman of the Board - R. Serkan Aktas, who attended the 4th National Family Business Summit organized by TAIDER Family Business Association, hosted in Istanbul, as the representative speakers of Aktas Holding, made significant sharing on the management of the process of institutionalization in family businesses, Aktas Holding's effective steps towards institutionalization, and the future vision of the company, through the presentation that they jointly realized with the title of “Institutionalization in Family Businesses and the Role of Professional Administrators.

 

Family business owners and managers, next-generation members of companies and experts working on this issue attended to the event in InterContinental Hotel, on the date of 21-22 October, with the theme "Innovating in Family Companies, Overcoming Challenges and Inspiring".

 

Chairman of the Executive Board and Board Member Sami Erol, who made the opening speech at the session titled "Institutionalization and the Role of Professional Administrators in Family Businesses" on behalf of Aktas Holding, and shared the process of Aktas Holding achieving to become one of the world's largest brands in the industry in its sector by starting from 1938 and expanding with the advanced technology and R&D-focused, and as of today, its activities from United States of America to Brazil, and from Germany to the Far East, in all around the world.

 

3 Main Strategies of Institutionalization and Management

Sami Erol emphasized the importance of 3 important points regarding the journey of institutionalization in family businesses; and used such expressions "We believe that the 3 main approaches for managing the institutionalization are very important. These are the common vision of the family and the reflection onto the performance, the development of business processes and results, and the establishment of the necessary structures for the continuity of results. It is necessary to act in the context of continuous improvement culture, to use the resources effectively to increase the sustainability in the company, to ensure that the members of the family trust each other's intentions and communicate properly, to provide a platform where they can clearly talk about important issues, and how to establish the dialogue and develop them on the issues of view. In the same way, it is necessary to enable the optimization of employee / shareholder / customer / supplier / community based stakeholder. There is a very important leadership that has been performed by second generation Sahap Aktas in Aktas Holding. Of course, that leadership is a leadership that starts and develops before him, and we are confident that it will be reflected on the next generations."

 

Aktas Holding's journey to become a 'World Company' was shared

 

In the presentation, which was interactively performed, Aktas Holding Vice President R. Serkan Aktas said that the activities of Aktas Holding, which has a share of 17% in the global market,  and Turkey’s most patent producing company, which is a 'world company' within the scope of Turquality, that had been first initiated in 1938 as a small tire coating workshop, and reached today’s success as a result of sustainable success-oriented works, following the first manufacture of bellows in 1972, and the first exportation to Iran in 1990.

 

In the presentation of Aktas, he also shared the story with the participants that Atatürk had repaired his car at a tire workshop that had been run by his late grandfather Sait Aktas when his car exploded during a Bursa visit.
